Accelerator science and technology
Pavel Karataev is an expert in accelerator science and in electromagnetic radiation generated by fast charged particles and its applications for beam diagnostics and instrumentation in particle accelerators. He graduated from Tomsk Polytechnic University (Russia) in 1999 with qualification on “Radiation Resistance of Human Being and Environment”. Achieved the degree of the Doctor of Science in Tokyo Metropolitan University on “Non-invasive transverse beam size diagnostics using optical diffraction radiation” in 2004. The first post-doctoral position was 2004-2006 at KEK: High energy accelerator research organization funded by Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). From 2006 professor at Physics department of Royal Holloway, University of London and a member of John Adams Institute for Accelerator Science. He was a supervisor of 12 PhD and numerous BSc, MSci, and MSc final year project students, invited Editor of IOP Journal of Instrumentation and a referee of such respectable journals as Nature, Nature Communications, Scientific Reports, Physical Review Letters, Applied Physics Letters, etc. In 2020 founded and became the spokesperson of the collaboration FLAP: Fundamental and applied Linear Accelerator Physics collaboration at JINR.
