Danilo Giulietti
Professor
Danilo Giulietti graduated (cum laude) in Physics at the University of Pisa in 1973 and obtained the PhD at Scuola Normale Superiore in 1979. His scientific commitment in the field of the Structure of the Matter has developed in various areas, but mainly in that of high-intensity laser-matter interaction. For his skills in this field he was responsible for several European Network in Italy, the most important of which were GAUSEX (Generation and application of ultra-short, laser-produced X-ray pulses) and SILASI (Superintense laser pulse-solid interaction). He was nominated as a National Representative of the INFN PLASMONX Strategic Project (acceleration of particles in plasmas and production of monochromatic and tunable X-ray radiation), thanks to which at the Frascati National Laboratories, one of the most powerful pulsed laser (0.815µ, 6J in 20fs , 300TW @10Hz) for studying new acceleration techniques has been equipped. He was INFN National Representative of the European Projects ELI (Extreme Light Infrastructure) and HiPER (High Power laser Energy Research facility). As a researcher and professor of Quantum Optics and Plasmas, he trained and involved generations of students in this specific field. He collaborates with LNF, LNS and the ENEA Research Center in Frascati in activities concerning particle laser-plasma acceleration and Controlled Thermonuclear Fusion. Professor Giulietti is the author of over 200 publications in international journals and 300 communications at national and international congresses, many of which by invitation
